About the Role

The role involves developing and maintaining web-based applications using PERL (or PHP/Python), working with SQL databases on an open source platform. Responsibilities include coding, testing, documentation, and collaborating with users and team members to address bugs and implement enhancements.

Key Objectives

  • Design and support web-based applications using PERL, or equivalent scripting languages such as PHP or Python, within an open source environment.
  • Ensure proper testing and documentation of code before deployment.
  • Gather technical requirements and improvement requests directly from users.

Core Responsibilities

  • Resolve issues and implement requested features as assigned via the Bugzilla tracking system.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to quality assurance efforts, including documentation.
  • Use Git for version control and collaborate with team members on development and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL, with solid knowledge of relational databases.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in web application development using PERL, PHP, or Python on an open source platform (e.g., LAMP stack).
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system, particularly command-line interface.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
