Role of Software & Information Platforms at Cardinal Health

The Information Technology department is responsible for the efficient development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This team anticipates business needs and implements IT strategies and solutions that support operations and add business value.

The Software & Information Platforms group handles the technical setup, design, administration, development, implementation, and support of application and information frameworks used by the company’s software solutions. They collaborate closely with Application Development & Maintenance teams and other IT departments to identify platform improvements and build long-term capabilities.

Job Opportunity

We are looking for an Apigee API Software Developer to join the Enterprise API Solutions and Apigee Platform Team. This role focuses on creating reusable API services and helping application teams solve technical issues on the Apigee X platform. The Developer will primarily work with Google Apigee to design, develop, and troubleshoot APIs, while also offering technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Utilize deep knowledge of technical concepts and principles to handle a variety of complex tasks and projects.

  • May contribute to policy and procedure development.

  • Work independently on large, complex projects, developing innovative solutions aligned with organizational goals.

  • Mentor less experienced team members.

  • Collaborate with business clients, project stakeholders, IT staff, and developers to design and deliver API proxies.

  • Provide expert technical and functional insights and lead system implementations to minimize risks.

  • Perform software upgrades and maintain best practices and standards.

  • Monitor API performance, usage, and security to ensure functionality and compliance.

  • Test APIs to confirm they meet business needs.

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for Apigee proxies.

  • Demonstrate expertise in Google Cloud Platform and other cloud technologies like AWS.

  • Lead requirement gathering sessions with service users.

  • Have hands-on experience with programming languages such as Java/J2EE, Shell, Perl, or Python scripting.

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • Strong background in API proxy implementation and API development (REST/RESTful services).

  • Experience with API Connect or Apigee, OAuth, and JWT token implementation is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with tools like GIT, Concourse, Ansible, Jenkins, and Harness is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $94,900 – $135,600 (estimate, varies by location, experience, and skills).

  • No bonus eligibility.
