About the Role
An exciting opportunity is open for a skilled Application Performance Engineer. This role focuses on enhancing and validating the performance of enterprise-level applications and services. The position demands strong technical leadership, hands-on experience with performance tools, and the ability to optimize systems across various platforms. U.S. Citizenship is required. The selected candidate must be able to work as a W2 employee of Donatech.
Responsibilities
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for enterprise applications
- Identify integration points and dependencies between applications and infrastructure
- Develop forward-looking performance requirements aligned with business needs
- Design and implement performance testing strategies
- Select and utilize appropriate tools for performance validation and diagnostics
- Analyze the impact of architectural decisions on application performance
- Recommend architectural enhancements to improve performance within scope
- Independently manage multiple applications while collaborating with teams as needed
Required Skills
- Proven experience in application performance engineering: monitoring, testing, debugging
- Strong communication skills for technical customer interactions
- In-depth troubleshooting skills across Windows and Linux environments
- Ability to analyze network components including firewalls, load balancers, and switches
- Demonstrated leadership on technical projects with accountability for deliverables
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell
- Familiarity with capacity planning and performance tools for servers, networks, and storage
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and tools
- Practical knowledge of tools such as LoadRunner, Splunk, SiteScope, ExtraHop, CA Spectrum, Perfmon, and Wireshark
- Experience with Java performance tuning and JVM-level diagnostics
- Administration or troubleshooting experience with platforms such as WebLogic, Apache, or JBoss
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with client-side IT infrastructure and enterprise ecosystems
- Exposure to SAN, NAS, NetApp, and vSphere technologies
- Background in troubleshooting container-based and J2EE environments
- Scripting proficiency in additional languages like Bash, YAML, Ruby, JavaScript, PHP, or TypeScript
- Understanding of Agile team roles, backlogs, and sprints
- Experience with modern monitoring, profiling, and network analysis tools
