About the Role

This Bioinformatics Internship is an exciting opportunity for students or recent graduates passionate about biology, data science, and computational methods. Working within the R&D team, the intern will support the development and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing large-scale datasets from synthetic biology and high-throughput sequencing experiments. The position offers hands-on experience in a dynamic biotech environment at the forefront of DNA innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze biological data, with emphasis on sequencing and synthetic biology datasets, including long-read sequencing
  • Implement and enhance algorithms and pipelines for bioinformatics data processing
  • Perform statistical evaluations and data mining to extract meaningful biological patterns
  • Collaborate with scientific teams to design experiments and interpret computational results
  • Maintain curated datasets to support in-house algorithm training
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, internal meetings, and progress reviews
  • Document code, workflows, and protocols to ensure reproducibility and transparency

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid grasp of bioinformatics principles, methods, and algorithms
  • Experience with one or more programming languages: Python, R, Perl, Java
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, Bowtie, SAMtools, RStudio, Bioconductor, or Biopython
  • Understanding of statistical techniques and tools (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS)
  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology and genetics
  • Awareness of the software development life cycle and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

  • Practical exposure to long-read sequencing technologies
  • Hands-on experience in managing and interpreting large-scale biological data
  • Motivation to explore emerging tools and stay current in the bioinformatics field
