Role Overview – Perl Developer

As a Perl Developer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and upgrading our existing software systems. You’ll collaborate closely with team leads, developers, and QA testers to ensure the delivery of high-quality software. This role calls for a collaborative mindset, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and a passion for learning and system reliability.

Location: Malta, Serbia, or Remote (within ±3 hours of CET)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance existing Perl-based codebases

  • Continuously learn and document updates to product lines

  • Develop tools to assist with infrastructure maintenance

  • Coordinate with testers and team leads to implement stable code changes

  • Ensure development goals and timelines are met

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Strong programming background, especially in Perl (3–5 years, object-oriented focus)

  • Solid grasp of CGI operations and Perl frameworks (e.g., DBI, PSGI/Plack)

  • Proficient with Linux systems and VI editor

  • Experienced in version control (Git)

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing system-level issues

  • Familiarity with RDBMS (MySQL preferred) and ORM tools

  • Comfortable using IDEs like VS Code, Eclipse, IntelliJ, or NetBeans

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and creative

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Docker and containerization

  • Writing unit tests for Perl applications

  • Jenkins and Bitbucket experience
