About the Role
This role focuses on the end-to-end development, optimization, and support of Varicent-based Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in Varicent modules and database systems, coupled with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams. This is a hands-on, senior-level opportunity offering meaningful impact on variable compensation strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ICM models and reports using Varicent (Composer, Portal Access, Task Manager, QueryTool, and Presenter).
- Manage import processes, workflows, calculation logic, and web forms to ensure accurate and scalable incentive compensation processes.
- Perform detailed data integrations, query development, and reporting logic within Varicent and relational/dimensional databases.
- Document technical specifications, test plans, architectural designs, and system requirements.
- Analyze and troubleshoot issues in existing configurations and code, ensuring smooth operational continuity.
- Translate technical concepts into clear, non-technical language for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with business and technology leaders to deliver process improvements and digital solutions.
- Apply project management practices aligned with ITIL, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
- Lead strategic initiatives such as global rollouts, vendor assessments, and system implementations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Incentive Compensation Management systems, including at least two full lifecycle Varicent implementations.
- Deep expertise in Varicent modules: Composer, Task Manager, Portal Access, Presenter, QueryTool.
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational and dimensional database structures.
- Experience building intra-model imports, query functions, and workflow automation in Varicent.
- Solid understanding of sales performance and variable compensation processes.
- Familiarity with IT documentation practices, including architectural roadmaps, estimation, and unit testing plans.
- Effective communicator with the ability to work across cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Perl, Java).
- Experience developing responsive webforms using JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3.
- Understanding of RESTful/SOAP APIs, ETL pipelines, and large-volume data handling.
- Experience with BI/analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy.
- Background with other ICM or SPM tools (e.g., Xactly, Callidus, Oracle Incentive Management) is a strong plus.
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver results in a hybrid onshore-offshore model.
