About the Role
The Content Platform team is hiring a Software Development Engineer for an onsite contract-to-hire role in Bellevue, WA. The 11-month engagement involves developing and supporting internal merchandising applications that directly influence customer experience. The role focuses on full-stack Java development, with equal contributions across front-end and back-end systems.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues involving Perl, C/C++, and Java-based applications
- Develop and maintain front-end and back-end features across legacy and modern stacks
- Build and maintain monitoring tools and automation to improve operational efficiency
- Collaborate with developers, technical teams, and product stakeholders to design scalable solutions
- Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning and daily stand-ups
- Write SQL queries, manage system documentation, and contribute to support processes
- Support system migration and deprecation efforts as the platform transitions to a modern architecture
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in Java, with experience in full-stack development
- Working knowledge of system design and microservices architecture
- Experience with UNIX/Linux environments and scripting
- Familiarity with SQL, HTML, JavaScript, and web-based technologies
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional software development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Knowledge of Perl, C/C++, Perl CGI, and Mason framework
- Experience with Oracle databases, REST APIs, and service-oriented architecture
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and version control systems
- Understanding of post-purchase customer experience systems
