About the Role

The Associate IT Analyst – Web Developer (Perl) will contribute to the Support Services section by developing and maintaining web-based applications built on an open-source platform. This position involves creating dynamic, data-driven web content, ensuring code quality through testing and documentation, and collaborating with end users to deliver solutions that align with organizational needs. The role is based in San Antonio, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Perl CGI web applications interacting with Oracle SQL databases on a Linux-based platform
  • Design dynamic web content that integrates with backend systems
  • Test and document code prior to deployment in production environments
  • Collaborate with end users to gather requirements and address enhancements or bug fixes
  • Implement updates and corrections using Bugzilla bug/enhancement tracking system
  • Participate in peer code reviews, ensuring quality, accuracy, and proper documentation
  • Use Git as the version control system for all development work
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment for problem-solving and application development

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT field emphasizing software development
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL with a solid understanding of relational databases
  • At least 1 year of experience in CGI web application development with Perl (experience in PHP or Python may substitute)
  • Proficiency working with Linux operating systems, including command-line navigation and file editing with vi or similar editors
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and code quality
  • Valid and clear driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a LAMP stack environment
  • Familiarity with bug tracking systems such as Bugzilla
  • Background in secure development practices and government security standards
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams
